Author Douglas Murray has urged Muslims to “speak up” and defend civilians in Israel who are being massacred by Hamas.
“They do have to be much more voluble because if they're going to say that there has to be a ceasefire in the Middle East, for instance, they have to acknowledge that there was a cease-fire in the Middle East and it was broken by Hamas on the 7th of October,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“When moderate Muslims, as we call them in the West, start shrieking about Israel, I'm sorry then you have to say, are these people remotely moderate?” Ms Panahi acknowledged the difference between peaceful Muslims who are not in any way extremist and those who are “marching and chanting for genocide”.
“I think they are let down by their community leaders and at these marches where are the chants against Hamas?” Ms Panahi said. “Where are the chants to free the Palestinians from this murderous death cult? That would actually, I think, encourage a lot more support for their cause.”
