Douglas Ross sparks security scare over toy gun sent to Scottish Parliament office
Blundering Scots Tory leader Douglas Ross sparked a security panic over a toy gun delivered to his Holyrood office.
An angry insider told the Record a parcel which looked like it contained a gun was intercepted by Parliament security on Tuesday after being screened.Fears were allayed when it emerged the toy had been ordered for Ross’s son.Labour MSP Monica Lennon blasted: “I am glad the police and security staff sorted out this matter, but it is disappointing they were put into this position in the first place.
Scottish Lib Dem leader Alex Cole Hamilton said: “This shows a naive lack of judgement from Douglas Ross. At a time when the security of MSPs and MPs is very much a subject of public interest, this was a schoolboy error and he should reflect on it.” A Tory source said Ross did not purchase the toy gun personally and his family had intended to buy a toy laser gun.
