Saturday's biggest draw were panels at Hall H
Comic-Con International is almost over, but Saturday — the convention’s penultimate day — brought massive crowds to downtown San Diego for the convention’s most anticipated panels and outdoor installations that even people without a badge couldn’t resist.
Warner Bros. Pictures kicked it off with panels for its upcoming films “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” and DC Comics’ “Black Adam,” played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He stunned attendees as he levitated onto the stage in full costume with thunderous speakers shaking the room. Also on the Hall H lineup were Marvel Studios, Star Trek, the “Sandman” show and HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel, “House of the Dragon.”according to Sandra Goulart, 61, of Ocean Beach, and Rosie Murray, 30, of Stockton.
“It was awesome. The excitement was just so palpable,” said Johann Cordero, who had just left the “Black Adam” panel and was exploring the main exhibit floor in full cosplay as the character Eddie Munson from the Netflix show “Stranger Things.” “I’m really excited to be back and share my work,” he said, adding that his latest novels explore Black and Brown representation in less conventional storylines.
At Il Sogno Italiano on Fifth Avenue, dozens of people ate at the restaurant’s elaborate and shaded parklet the business put together during the COVID-19 pandemic“Everybody’s outdoor outlet here is a direct influence of COVID and needs to be permanent. It’s definitely helped us with this many people from Comic-Con and we’ve got a few other events coming up next week,” said Eddie Sanchez, the restaurant’s general manager.
