The robbery happened Saturday about 11:40 a.m.
WALNUT CREEK — A man escaped capture after robbing a bank in the city’s downtown area Saturday morning, police said.
Officers responded about 11:40 a.m. to the PNC Bank at 1101 S. California Blvd. after a hold-up alarm was reported, police spokesperson Lt. Ryan Hibbs said in a statement. The officers later determined that the suspect had passed a note to a teller, demanding money and saying he had a gun, Hibbs said.
The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, and he fled the store, Hibbs said. Nobody was injured. Police did not have a detailed description of the suspect but said he wore a black-knitted cap, white facemask, sunglasses, black jacket, light-colored pants and white-and-blue shoes. Police urged anyone with information to contact them at 925-943-5844. Anonymous tips can be left at 925-943-5685.
