The health expert says the veggie can help blood vessels dilate and increase blood flow
Dr Michael Mosley has explained how eating one particular vegetable could boost your intimacy levels, without needing to turn to medicine. As well as having other major health benefits, he said beetroot could act just as well as taking Viagra for men.
By helping blood vessels dilate, it can also help bring systolic blood pressure down. Blood pressure is measured using two numbers; the first number, known as systolic blood pressure, measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats. Speaking on the podcast, Dr Mosley said: "The Romans used it as an aphrodisiac, strangely enough. The mechanism is exactly the same as in Viagra. What Viagra does is lead to the release of nitric oxide and the expansion of blood vessels, but mainly around your genitalia.
