'A dream come true'
Dancing on Ice have announced that drag queen and TV personality The Vivienne is the sixth celebrity joining the line-up for the upcoming series. The Vivienne won the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2019 and will now be one of the 11 contestants taking to the ice when the skating competition returns next year.
Announcing the news on social media on Friday, October 7 alongside a promo picture, The Vivienne posted: “I'm beyond excited to announce that I will be competing in Dancing on Ice in 2023! This is honestly a dream come true and I can't wait to start training on the ice. "To be the first drag artist to take part in one of the big UK reality competition shows is truly an honour," The Vivienne added: "I think it's a big step forward for queer representation on TV.”
After being crowned the winner of Drag Race UK, The Vivienne went on to star in the BBC series 'The Vivienne Takes on Hollywood' and also competed in the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.
The news comes after Coronation Street actress Mollie Gallagher was confirmed to be joining the line-up on ITV's Lorraine on Thursday. Former EastEnders actress and DJ Patsy Palmer, football legend Josh Fashanu, Love Island 2022 winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson have also been unveiled as contestants for the 2023 series this week.
