A council in Melbourne has cancelled a drag storytime event that was set to take place at a library in the city's south-east later this month after 'threats of violence' against councillors and staff.
Monash council said the Oakleigh library event will no longer be going ahead amid"threats of violence" against councillors, staff, families of attendees and the performer.

Picture: Andy Brownbill "We understood this was not for everyone and scheduled it outside our regular library programs so that parents planning to bring their children were making a deliberate choice to attend. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews - whose Mulgrave electorate includes Monash council - addressed the cancellation during parliament on Thursday afternoon.
