Footage shows pedestrians lying on road as others run for help in Friday night incident

A vehicle struck several pedestrians in Melbourne’s CBD on Friday evening before colliding with two vehicles.

A vehicle struck several pedestrians before crashing into two more cars near the corner of Bourke Street and Russell Street about 6pm on Friday,Police said the driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and is in custody. In a video circulating on social media, two people can be seen lying on the ground near the tram tracks as others run for help.

“There is no ongoing threat to the community, and we will provide more information when available,” police said.
