A man who stood in the middle of the road attacked a driver who tried to get by him.
David Brannigan, 48, was on Newlands Road on the night of October 29 last year when Sheraz Butt approached him in his car.
The traffic lights were green, but Brannigan was in the way. Mr Butt slowed down and flashed his lights, but Brannigan raised his arms in the air and moved towards the vehicle. The driver stopped his car to confront Brannigan, who had taken his jacket off and started moving toward him aggressively. Mr Butt stood behind his car, asked Brannigan to move away and said he didn’t want to fight. But Brannigan continued to move towards him, and Mr Butt pushed him, causing him to fall.He again told him he didn’t want to fight. But Brannigan rushed to his feet and punched the man, causing his lip to burst. He then threw more punches whilst chasing him around the car.
“He has one previous conviction, a road traffic matter. He had taken too much alcohol. He’s highly embarrassed by his behaviour. A video was posted on social media."He doesn’t have alcohol difficulties, but he’s reduced his intake. He is hopeful he won’t appear before the court again.”He was also fined £400.
