Zayne had been playing with his two older sisters — aged five and seven — outside his family's Dover Gardens home in Adelaide's south-west. He was dragged underneath the car for a few metres before Bullock drove off — leaving the toddler lying unconscious on the road.Bullock took the stand during his trial and told the jury he saw a little girl run out from behind a tree and"I was about two metres from her. I swerved to miss her, I heard a noise at the front of my car," he said.
"Then I felt something go under my rear wheels. I thought it was a ball … I didn't know what it was, I didn't see anything." Bullock said he panicked when he saw a child lying on the road so he drove to his home, which was about 80 metres down the road.
