A driver struck four pedestrians who were on a sidewalk in downtown Denver Saturday night, according to police.

The driver did not stop after hitting the pedestrians, police said. The incident happened at about 11:40 p.m. at the intersection of 18th and Wazee streets, police said.

Two people were seriously injured and another two suffered minor injuries, Denver police spokesman Sean Towle said Sunday. All of the injured, who are adults, are expected to survive, he said. Towle could not say Sunday whether the driver targeted the pedestrians or whether the driver knew any of the people who were struck.

“That’s under investigation still,” he said. “A lot of this is under investigation, trying to figure out what exactly happened, what led up to it, what caused the whole thing.” Investigators are searching for the driver, Towle said, adding that there was no information to release publicly Sunday morning about the driver’s description or a make and model of the vehicle.
