A man has been jailed for a maximum of three-and-a-half years after he brought his car to a complete stop on a Sydney motorway so he would not miss his exit, causing a fatal pile-up behind him | gmitch_news

A man has been jailed for a maximum of three-and-a-half years after he brought his car to a complete stop on a Sydney motorway so he would not miss his exit, causing a fatal pile-up behind him.

A truck behind Mr Shanley could not stop in time. It hit the back of his ute, which was unable to be pushed forward because it was wedged, resulting in the truck moving onto the top of his car. Mr Shanley’s ute was crushed and he died at the scene from multiple injuries. “I’ve had three near miss accident today because of trauma,” the message said. “I am not even there yet. I better move on with my life before I end up dead.”

Judge Culver said the truck that hit Mr Shanley could not have stopped even if the driver had “superhuman reaction time”, and although the truck driver had traces of cannabis in his blood, there was no way he could have avoided the collision. The driver watched on as Omigie was sentenced.
