"It was almost a car chase, sort of," Houston police Lt. Ronnie Willkens said at the scene of the crash.
The driver of a white truck attempted to evade police and ended up on top of multiple vehicles Friday night.The pile-up occurred around 10:17 p.m. when a Houston police patrol officer observed the white truck speeding on Emancipation, Willkens stated. Once the officer turned around, the white truck went through some side streets and ended up on Wheeler, he said.
As the officer got closer to the white truck and turned on his emergency vehicle lighting, the suspect drove through a nearby intersection and struck a convertible containing a woman inside of it. Once the suspect hit the convertible, his truck soared atop four empty parked cars, according to Willkens.
A woman in a convertible was hit Friday night by a driver in a white truck who was trying to evade police.The suspect had"some scratches," while the woman in the convertible was taken to a hospital, Willkens said."Hopefully she'll be OK, so prayers for her," he added. The truck doesn't appear to be stolen, but the driver does have city warrants and a lengthy criminal history, Willkens stated.
