A man who was pulled over after being seen driving recklessly tried to offer an excuse as police discovered he was uninsured. Officers spotted an Audi A3 being driven 'erratically at excess speed' on Wilmslow Road, in south Manchester, last night (March 19). After pulling the car over, Greater Manchester Police discovered another issue that sparked concern. Having performed a check on the car, officers found that it was uninsured.
While being spoken to by police, the driver offered up an excuse. He suggested he was merely minutes away from being insured - telling officers that he did have a policy that was due to start at midnight. But police insisted that was 'no excuse', and the Audi was seized. In a post shared on Facebook late last night, a GMP Fallowfield, Withington, Levenshulme and Burnage spokesperson said: "Whilst conducting student engagement activity on Wilmslow Road, this vehicle was seen driving erratically at excess speed. The vehicle was stopped and found to have no insurance in place. The driver explained his policy starts at midnight but this was too late. Vehicle was seized and driver has been issued a ticket. There is no excuse for no insurance.
