A man was trapped for seven hours in the wreckage of a fatal truck crash on the Hume Highway near Yass, NSW. Emergency services worked tirelessly for hours to free him, eventually airlifting him to hospital in a critical condition. The crash, involving two B-double trucks, occurred just after 1am, resulting in the death of one driver at the scene. Southbound lanes of the highway remain closed, while one northbound lane is open.

Superintendent Dewberry said paramedics worked to stabilise the driver while firefighters worked to "cut, push spread, and lift" the wreckage apart.(A heavy-haulage tow truck was also on the scene to pull the trucks apart to get the wreckage away from the driver.
