A Dural property owner claims police officers acted inappropriately during a counterterrorism investigation, breaking down his front door and handcuffing one of his tenants. He insists he and his tenants are innocent and have no connection to a nearby caravan allegedly containing explosives intended for an antisemitic attack.

The owner of a Dural property asserts that police forcibly entered his residence, handcuffed one of his tenants, and wrongly executed a search warrant as part of their investigation into a caravan allegedly filled with explosives. The property owner, who chose to withhold his last name, vehemently denies any connection between him, his tenants, and the caravan, stating that it was parked a short distance from his property.

According to him, he initially believed the caravan belonged to local council roadworks and paid no particular attention to it.He recounted his experience to 7.30, alleging that police mistreated him and his tenant during the search. He claimed that officers handcuffed his tenant, forced him to the ground, stood on him, and caused him injuries when the front door was forcibly broken down. 7.30 presented these claims to the New South Wales Police, who issued a brief statement declining to confirm or comment on the details. The investigation centers on a caravan containing explosives that NSW Police allege were intended for an antisemitic attack on Jewish community targets. A man claiming to be the registered owner of the caravan is currently in custody on unrelated weapons and drug charges. The police stated on Wednesday that the registered owner was apprehended for 'peripheral charges' related to the Dural investigation. There has been criticism directed at both the NSW Police and the state government for only publicly disclosing information about the discovery on Wednesday, after details of the investigation were leaked to the media.NSW Premier Chris Minns addressed the situation at a press conference, stating that he believed covert methods might be the best way for police to apprehend those responsible for such actions, and that it would be inappropriate for law enforcement or the government to announce the commencement of a counterterrorism inquiry publicly. Prominent member of the Jewish community and former treasurer, Josh Frydenberg, expressed his concern over the escalating attacks, describing the discovery of the caravan as the latest in a series of violent, antisemitic incidents that not only threaten the safety of the Jewish community but also the security of the entire country. He acknowledged receiving serious threats, which he reported to the Federal Police, as have many other prominent Australian Jews. Frydenberg attributed the rise in antisemitism to the Hamas terror attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and urged Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the police to take more decisive action against the perpetrators. He pointed out that praising and celebrating the Hamas attacks began shortly after the event in Western Sydney, and that this sentiment had gained a foothold in Australia, becoming normalized. He claimed this normalization was not his assessment but the observation of prominent Australian security professional, Dennis Richardson. Frydenberg called for the Prime Minister to have established clear red lines from the outset and for consequences to be meted out against those who crossed them
