Popular homewares retailer Dusk is recalling its Christmas-themed candles recalled amid fears they could pose a deadly risk to children. The scented candles were sold nationally in store and online between October 24 and December 12 and feature a light-up LED light powered by a button battery with no warning label on the packaging. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has recalled the item due to the missing label. Button batteries pose a significant risk to children.

If swallowed they can cause a choking hazard, chemical burns to the throat or death. “There is a risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death to young children if they gain access to the button/coin batteries and swallow or place them inside their body,” the recall notice says. “Severe or fatal injuries can happen in two hours or less. “Consumers may be unaware that the product contains button batteries.
