Retired Richmond superstar Dustin Martin is reportedly in talks to continue his AFL career at Gold Coast in 2025. Martin announced his immediate retirement in a snap media release last month, bringing an end to his glittering 302-game career. The 33-year-old had previously been linked to a move to the Suns and now it appears it’s back on the cards. News Corp are reporting Martin has met with Suns coach Damien Hardwick and CEO Mark Evans confirmed the modern day great reached out to the club.
Martin has a long history with Hardwick and the pair embraced after the Round 24 match when Martin, who didn’t play, bid farewell to adoring Tiger fans. The media-shy superstar never spoke publicly after his retirement, but gave an on-field interview with former teammate Jack Riewoldt. “Pretty emotional and it’s pretty surreal. It feels a little bit weird,” he said. “I think after today it will really sink in. As everyone knows, I love the club, I love you all so much.
