Federal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has committed to holding another referendum on Indigenous recognition if the Voice proposal fails and he wins government at the next election.
Peter Dutton says the Coalition has long supported Indigenous recognitionMr Dutton and the majority of Coalition MPs are campaigning against the Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum on October 14.
"I think it is right and respectful to recognise Indigenous Australians in the constitution and we will work with the Labor Party to find common ground." But on Sunday morning he told the Channel Nine he expected it would pass with "flying colours" and if the Voice fails he'd support reopening a conversation about Indigenous recognition.
"This demonstrates that the opposition leader is not listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who have very clearly asked for something that will change our lives," she said.
