Universal Credit is among those that will be paid on a different date
The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed when people who receive benefits will be paid over the Christmas and New Year period. Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year, meaning the bank holidays will be on Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27.
Anyone who was meant to receive their payment on December 26 or December 27 will instead receive their payment early on Friday, December 23. In addition, if your normal payment date is Wednesday, December 28, you will receive your payment early on Friday, December 23. People on Universal Credit will be paid on December 28 as usual. New Year also falls on a weekend, meaning the bank holiday will be on Monday, January 2, with those who receive their payment on January 2 getting the payment early on Friday, December 30.
