Scammers have targeted keen online shoppers and those awaiting gifts in the lead-up to Christmas in a bolstered effort to fleece money from Aussies.
People eagerly anticipating text notifications for deliveries are being targeted, seemingly more so with online ordering at an all-time high in the lead-up to Christmas.
Scamwatch issued an alert on the weekend confirming text messages containing fake information about parcel deliveries had again been rapidly distributed across the country. Members of the public shared their frustrations to Twitter on Sunday, with many warning others not to be fooled into clicking links contained in the texts.

“They’re fishing in the Xmas parcel bonanza since so many people are genuinely expecting packages. I’m sure many get caught by it. What a horrible thing to do to people,” one person responded.“Really ramps at this time of year as they assume people are expecting Christmas presents,” someone else said.
