An East Cleveland officer shot a man early Thursday after responding to a loud music complaint and discovering the car had been reported stolen, police said.
EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio --
The man suffered injuries that were not life-threatening in the shooting, which happened just before 6 a.m. on North Taylor Road near Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland police said in a news release. He was taken to University Hospitals for treatment. The officer has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings, the release says.and The Plain Dealer asked East Cleveland police for the name of the officer involved in the incident.
The shooting happened after officers responded to a complaint about someone playing loud music in a car. When they arrived, they discovered the car had been reported stolen out of Cleveland, police said. Police did not say what led to shots being fired when the officers approached the car. A shot struck the driver, police said.The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting.
