Investigation work is continuing on the major road this morning after the fatal crash
The woman - aged in her 30s - was struck by a Vauxhall Insignia on the East Lancashire Road at around 12.50am this morning . She was a pedestrian, police said.

Police said the car had been travelling towards Liverpool along the A580 when it collided with the woman. Police are appealing for any witnesses of the incident to come forward. They also want to speak to anyone who has dash cam footage.
