East Side doctor has been caring for his childhood neighborhood for more than 40 years
Dr. Leo Edwards at his office in 2003 during another national"Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day." Edwards' office gave free cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes screenings as part of the event.For Edwards, those relationships often extend to other branches of the patient's family tree.
“He actually takes the time to listen to you," she said."He’s not one of those that will rush you or is too busy trying to handle a number of things at the same time. You can tell that he cares about his patients. “I think at the end of the day he is such a role model to all of us that know him," she said."The love and the commitment that he gives to the people that he serves, whether it’s his patients, his church or the community as a whole, I think is truly an inspiration."
