The appointment takes effect immediately. It wasn’t clear on Wednesday whether Long’s $273,268-a-year salary he was earning as interim president will change. “Having been part of the Warrior Community for the past nine years, I am humbled by the opportunity to build on the university’s 129-year history of providing affordable post-secondary education in the region,” Long said in a statement.
Long, 57, took over the reins at the university following the retirement of Marcia Welsh. He led the university through the difficult months of the COVID-19 pandemic which disrupted university life and educational delivery.
