The residents of Albert Square have said their final goodbyes to Lola Pearce in heart-wrenching scenes.
The official EastEnders Instagram page paid tribute to the star following the episode, sharing a clip of Jay discovering Lola had passed away. The caption said: “The sun shines bright for Lola. Rest in peace.It continued: “Details of organisations offering information and support with Bereavement or Cancer are available at bbc.co.uk/actionline.”
Wednesday’s episode saw Jay at her side for her final few hours, as characters including Phil Mitchell – who is grandfather to her daughter Lexi – and Kathy Beale say their final goodbyes. Back at the house, Lola’s daughter Lexi Pearce played George Ezra’s song Green Green Grass to her unconscious mum before adding: “I love you mum, I’ll never, ever forget you.”
“Although you ain’t speaking, I can still hear you. Your gobby voice is going to be in my head forever. I ain’t got to say it, because this ain’t goodbye.” She said: “I think because everyone in some way has been affected by cancer, so it just meant so much to everybody that we got it so correct.
