Eddie Hearn and Simon Jordan get into heated debate over Conor Benn's drugs tests

Hearn began by arguing that he didn’t ‘duck’ the media, as he said: “We basically did every outlet available, we even did Breakfast on talkSPORT, I just didn’t do the White & Jordan show.”

Hearn explained that all matters in terms of sanctioning a fight are decided by the British Boxing Board of Control.“Contractually in the incidence of this, the fight cannot proceed if the board don’t approve – no matter what happens in private testing.”In terms of the BBBoC decision to ‘prohibit’ the fight going ahead, Hearn said that he ‘backs’ their decision, although he wishes it hadn’t taken them so long to make it.

“Nobody particularly handled the situation well, but I will say when these tests come through, we had conversations with our governing body. He went on: “I have chosen to back this young man. I have taken flak. It would be easy to get out of it. I have done it because I believe in him.”It seems Hearn also took quite the financial hit amidst the incident, as he revealed the five-week delay in the BBBoC making a decision cost him £1million in promotional costs.

Hearn disputed this saying it was not necessarily true and incidents with other fighters in the past have not gone that way.Benn told Piers Morgan he will not cooperate with the BBBoC and is not interested in fighting under their jurisdiction again, but Hearn wants him to resolve the issue
