Alexander Savko hopes his children will be able to finally have a peaceful night sleep without the constant sound of air raids.
A Ukrainian family are hoping to live a more 'peaceful' life in Edinburgh after escaping the war in Ukraine. Alexander and Yana Savko moved to the capital with their three children for 'refuge' as the war in their home country continues to rage.
"Throughout 2022, the children studied online with only a few classes being held in person, as not all schools had bomb shelters or were designed for a small number of children. This spring, the situation began to deteriorate rapidly, the south of our country is regularly attacked by the enemy and over the past few weeks it's been happening every day."
"We believe this wonderful city will allow us all to be comfortable and safe. Our children will be able to sleep peacefully without the sound of air raids, study and integrate into society."
