Viewers watched on as his inspirational teacher My Burton helped Mushy overcome a severe stammer by suggesting he rehearse his lines for his GCSE English oral exam while listening to music. The trick – a method used in acclaimed film The King’s Speech – enabled Mushy, who had difficulty communicating with his teachers and fellow students, to speak fluently without stammering.
Reflecting on Educating Yorkshire on his birthday, Mushy wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: ‘Today I turn 27 YEARS OLD. Which means 11 YEARS AGO I was on Educating Yorkshire. ‘I am so fortunate to live life sharing the power of teachers.
