Earlier today five women reported to police they had eggs thrown at them while on one of the side streets off Campbell Parade at Bondi Beach about 9:30pm. Strike Force Pearl Commander Detective Superintendent Darren Newman says the women were potentially targeted because of what they were wearing.Later in the night in the nearby suburb of Rose Bay, two cartons of eggs and an empty jerry can were found in a Silver Mazda that had crashed into a curb about 10pm.On Thursday night, the ABC rode along Strike Force Pearl officers hunting down anyone potentially planning another act of vandalism.
"The Silver Mazda was seen in and around that Bondi area at the time that that attack occurred on those young ladies at Bondi Beach, and that same Mazda was also seized by us in Rose Bay only about half an hour later. So yes, we believe those incidents were linked," Detective Superintendent Newman said.
Detective Superintendent Newman said there were about 20 detectives on the ground looking into the matter but it was one of 12 cases currently under investigation. "A figure that doesn’t include the graffiti appearing on our streets on a daily basis or the abuse and harassment that goes unreported.
