The incident occurred in the tourist town of Vang Vieng where tourists were reportedly poisoned after consuming contaminated drinks. The fatalities also include a 57-year-old American man and two Danish women aged 20 and 21, and a British lawyer named Simone White. Local officials have mentioned only the deaths of the three foreign nationals, omitting the two Australians. A GoFundMe campaign set up in honor of Bianca and Holly has raised over $323,000, aiming to assist their families, combat methanol poisoning, and fund new awareness campaigns. The Australian Federal Police has offered assistance to the Laos investigation, and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized the need for a thorough and transparent investigation
