El casillero del lanzador mexicano Julio Urías ha sido retirado de la casa club de los Dodgers de Los Ángeles y los dos murales que representan al pitcher ganador de la Serie Mundial han sido cubiertos en el Dodger Stadium previo a la estadía del equipo en casa esta semana.
El casillero que antes ocupaba Urías ha pasado a manos del veterano oficial Kolten Wong. Los Dodgers también pintaron sobre un mural de Urías y cubrieron otro con una lona.
Roberts reconoció que no estaba enterado de que el casillero de Urías había sido retirado hasta que llegó al estadio para el juego contra San Diego. “Creo que fue una cuestión de la organización”, dijo Roberts. “No lo sabía. Es triste. Es triste en todos los niveles”. Los Dodgers firmaron a Urías cuando era un adolescente en México. El lanzador de 27 años se desarrolló como uno de los mejores abridores de Grandes Ligas en las últimas cuatro temporadas, ganando 20 partidos en 2021 y liderando las mayores con un ERA de 2.16 el año pasado, además de su destacada labor en la Serie Mundial de 2020.
Pero Urías ha sido arrestado dos veces en cuatro años por incidentes relacionados con violencia doméstica y cumplió una suspensión de 20 juegos luego de su arresto en mayo de 2019.
