Hot dogs are synonymous with baseball games. El Tiempo Cantina is hoping margaritas will one day have similar stature.

The popular Houston Tex-Mex restaurant chain has added a third outpost inside Minute Maid Park during the Astros postseason, and will be a regular at fan festivals during the playoffs, too.. With the two additional locations, including fanfest, that'll be 4,000 margaritas or about 500 gallons ," said Rafael Hernandez, marketing manager for El Tiempo parent company Laurenzo Restaurant Group.

While margaritas are typically around $16 each, they'll set you back a whopping $21.65 during the post season. Meanwhile the second and third-most popular items at Minute Maid Park El Tiempo stands are the nachos and the fajita tacos. Laurenzo's efforts at the ballpark reflect a broader strategy to have El Tiempo stitch itself into Houston's cultural tapestry. Already, they've noticed that a subsection of their customers also coincide with those who are Astros fans.
