Welteroth credits the influences of growing up within an interracial family as formative to shaping this vantage point, which she calls “the edge” behind drive her multifaceted career. “I never really felt like I entirely fit in. I always had this drive to learn the rules of engagement and shape-shift to wherever I was” Welteroth says of the different cultural worlds she straddled in her California neighborhood.
As “someone who never wants to become complacent or who stops growing,” Welteroth has devoted this next chapter of her career to leveraging her own life experiences to empower others. Her recent memoir,” serves as a call to action for other young women to own their ambitions and find their place in the world.
