An elderly man was allegedly assaulted by NSW Police officers at a home southwest of Sydney earlier this year. The 92-year-old was allegedly assaulted by the officers as they responded to a reported domestic incident at the Picton home about 8.45pm on January 21. “He was taken to hospital where he was admitted with a fracture to his right elbow, and significant bruising to his head and arms,” NSW Police said.
The other man is scheduled to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on August 6. Both men will be suspended with pay. It comes just over a year after Clare Nowland, 95, was fatally tasered at a Cooma aged care home. Officers were called to the home because Nowland, who weighed 43kg and lived with dementia, was holding a steak knife. Senior Constable Kristian White is currently facing manslaughter charges in relation to her death.
