The COVID-19 death toll in NSW has increased to 53 after a woman in her 80s died from the virus in Sydney.
This is the first coronavirus-related death recorded in the state in 12 days. The news comes as the cluster associated with Tangara School for girls in Cherrybrook continues to grow with 19 confirmed cases.
The confirmed cases include 12 students, one teacher, four household contacts and two social contacts. The school and retreat centre in Bargo have been closed down for deep cleaning with Tangara shutting its doors for 14 days to allow for contact tracing efforts. Image: AP
