Foxtel have hit back on Labor’s plan for free to air sport, claiming the current rules apply unfairly to Foxtel and don’t take account of other global streaming platforms.following Labor’s announcement that they believe the anti-siphoning list - a list of major sporting events that must be on free to air television - is inherently anti-competitive, and Australian audiences would benefit from a fundamental review of the out-dated protections that are in place for free to air television.

“The recent 2022 Women Cricket World Cup final between Australia and England was also made available free, in front of the Kayo paywall, after free to air television declined to broadcast the tournament.”
