The $20 million funding commitment is an extension of same package Morrison announced during the 2019 campaign. The policy, which will be outlined by Greens leader Adam Bandt in Brisbane on Saturday, will also provide grants of up to $25,000 to get homes and businesses off gas and onto electricity, plus smaller grants of up to $10,000 for batteries.The batteries, which will enable households to charge up on cheaper energy – either from solar panels or the electricity grid – could also keep homes and businesses running during blackouts.
Deputy Labor leader Richard Marles, opposition treasury spokesman Jim Chalmers, opposition finance spokeswoman Katy Gallagher and Labor candidate for Forde, Rowan Holzberger, are expected to speak from 11.30am AEST in Brisbane’s southern suburbs. People with disabilities can appeal decisions to either reject them from entering the scheme altogether or to cut their existing plans.
