Opposition leader Anthony Albanese has touted Labor’s “Help to Buy” policy as a practical measure supported by the housing industry, after Prime Morrison Scott Morrison labelled it “insane”.
Clare is concerned that society is “leaving apart between people who own their own home and think they can own their own home, and people that think they’re going to rent for the rest of their life”. Albanese repeated Labor’s attack line that Prime Minister Scott Morrison was happy to take credit when things go well, but not when they reflected poorly on the government.
Morrison earlier told 3AW radio in Melbourne that Labor’s housing policy – involving an equity stake of up to 40 per cent in homes purchased by 10,000 lower income earners a year – was “insane”.
