WA Premier Mark McGowan has touted Labor’s economic credentials at Labor’s official campaign launch in Western Australia. Follow updates here.
The launch is occurring at the halfway mark of the six-week campaign.
Mr Albanese tackled Mr Morrison’s strategy of “better the devil you know”. This recognises both leaders are underwhelming and unpopular but at least Mr Morrison was a known quantity.“Well, here’s what Australians do know,” he said, before listing a series of the Prime Minister’s flaws and failures as Labor sees them.
“Here is what Australians do know: they know that he failed to bushfires, and they know he then failed on flood. They know he did not order enough vaccines, and that they did not order enough rapid antigen test. “They know it is harder to see a doctor. They know aged care is in a crisis. They know it is harder to buy a home, and the cost of everything is going up their wages are not. That is the devil you know. These problems did not happen overnight, the government has had a dedicated office, and in another three years, the problem is that we need to fix will be even bigger,” he said.
“Australia, if we stand still, we will be left behind. If we do not shape the future, the future will shape us.”
