The national cabinet will this week consider restarting elective surgeries and IVF treatment as it prepares the health system for the road out of the coronavirus pandemic.

"We now have a sustained and genuine flattening of the curve," Mr Hunt said on Sunday. "At this point, Australians have done magnificently and we are not facing a threat to our hospitals."As of Sunday afternoon, Australia had 6605 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 70 deaths. Social distancing measures have seen the infection rate fall from daily double-digit rises at the peak of the crisis to less than 1 per cent for the past week.
