The historic suspension of the country’s National Electricity Market could be lifted as early as this week.
The decision came amid skyrocketing power prices which led AEMO to set an energy price cap on Sunday, limiting the price of wholesale electricity to $300 a megawatt per hour.
In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, AEMO confirmed the current outlook indicates sufficient electricity reserves for Tuesday evening. Picture: Getty
