Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says Elon Musk might be right that there are “lots and lots of fake” Twitter accounts used with complete anonymity.
The Tesla CEO has “threatened to dump” his $US44 billion takeover offer for Twitter because the company had “failed” to disclose a number of spam and fake accounts on its platform.
Twitter claims to have around five per cent of its accounts being fake, but Musk argued that it could be four times higher, around 20 per cent. Mr Greenwood tested out how long it took to set up a fake account on the social media site, which took less than three minutes to do.“If that’s easy to create a fake account, we reckon Musk might be right here.
