"Super excited to be in Brazil for launch of Starlink for 19,000 unconnected schools in rural areas & environmental monitoring of Amazon," Musk tweeted Friday morning.as the company builds out a globe-spanning constellation of broadband satellites, providing relatively high-speed internet to customers around the world. SpaceX has regulatory approval to launch thousands more.
Bolsonaro's critics say he is largely to blame, having emboldened loggers and land grabbers with his fervent support for development of the region. In 2021, the International Criminal Courtof"crimes against humanity" for his alleged role in the destruction of the Amazon, the first case seeking to explicitly link deforestation to loss of life.
