The spokesperson added: “We also will not reimburse reporters for the verification of personal accounts, except in rare instances where verified status would be essential for reporting purposes.”

Mr Musk previously said the changes to the way accounts are verified are “the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over”.
