Watford FC's most famous fan Elton John performed at Glastonbury and his set was watched by 7.3 million viewers on the BBC.The BBC reported that an average of 7.3 million viewers watched BBC One between 9pm and 11.05pm when our most well-known Watford FC fan was on the Pyramid Stage.
There was also a peak audience of 7.6 million for five minutes during the programme and the broadcaster said it had a 50 per cent share of all TV audiences on Sunday.Glastonbury, held at Worthy Farm in Sommerset, is Elton John’s last UK date of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. Speaking to the huge crowd, Sir Elton said: “It’s a very special and emotional night for me because it might be my last show ever in England, so I’d better play well, and I’d better entertain you.“I want to thank you for 52 years of amazing love and loyalty that you’ve shown me.
“It’s been an incredible journey. I will never forget you, you’re in my head and my heart and my soul, you’ve been amazing.”The 76-year-old megastar surpassed rock band Arctic Monkeys’ headline set on Friday night, which had an average of 1.5 million viewers on BBC One. Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi and American artist Lizzo’s Pyramid Stage performances on Saturday garnered 2.3 million viewers on average.
