Demarcus P.A. Boone, 26, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Benita Pearson after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin, crack cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A federal judge has sentenced an Elyria man to 10 years in prison on drug-related charges that involve fentanyl, heroin and other substances.
Demarcus P.A. Boone, 26, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Benita Pearson after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin, crack cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. The U.S. Attorney’s office says court documents show police in Elyria began investigating Boone in April 2021 after receiving a tip that he was trafficking heroin and fentanyl. On May 7, 2021, authorities searched a residence where Boone was staying and found fentanyl and cocaine hidden inside the insulation of a basement wall.
Boone was found later at another residence and was arrested by police. Officers searched Boone and the other residence and again found fentanyl and cocaine, according to prosecutors. Afirearm belonging to Boone also was found at the residence. Boone is prohibited from having a firearm because of previous drug convictions.More crime-related content on cleveland.com
