One flight has been delayed for several hours
East Midlands Airport flights may face "potential disruption" due to an air traffic control issue. This comes as thousands are expected to be flying on the bank holiday on Monday, August 28.
One flight expected to depart EMA at 12.55pm for Reus in Spain now has a suspected departure time of 8.05pm - meaning passengers are facing a delay of more than seven hours. EMA is yet to confirm if this delay is connected to the nationwide fault. A spokesperson for East Midlands Airport said: "We are aware of a nationwide traffic control issue that is affecting flights in and out of airports across the country. This may cause disruption to some flights at East Midlands Airport."Please check the status of your flight with your airline and arrive at the airport at the time they advise. We will provide further updates as soon as possible.
NATS, the national air traffic controllers, has also apologised for the inconvenience and stated that engineers are currently working to fix the fault.
