BREAKING Senator Bridget McKenzie has resigned from cabinet STORY HERE auspol
Agriculture Minister Bridget McKenzie has resigned from federal cabinet over her role in the sports rorts saga which has engulfed the Morrison government for more than a fortnight.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Sunday that Senator McKenzie had offered her resignation after a review into her administration of the scheme found she had breached ministerial standards. Senator Bridget McKenzie was criticised in the report for her role in a process where $100 million of funds were distributed to sports clubs around the country."Even in tough circumstances like this where the minister obviously did not stand to realise any pecuniary or any direct personal benefit, the standards require a disclosure of interest and, in particular, one where there involves a conflict of interest for a program they might be overseeing.
