Huge emergency services response near Gay Village as man rescued after falling from bridge into canal
There was a huge emergency services response near Manchester's Gay Village on Saturday night following reports of a man falling from a bridge and into the canal.
Emergency services were called out to reports of a person who had 'fallen from height'. It was established the man had fallen from a bridge into the Rochdale Canal, which has recently had its water drained.The male was lifted out of the canal to safety on a stretcher. He sustained hip and leg injuries in the fall and is being assessed by paramedics.
